Boy Scout Troop 317 is having an Open House for prospective Scouts and their parents on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the Sixth Street Café of Perimeter Church. Prospective Boy Scouts will observe the Troop meeting while parents attend an informational meeting.
This is our Spring joining period open to all boys who have completed the 5th grade, are 11 years old by March 31, 2010, or earned the Webelo's Arrow of Light Award.
Applications will be due by Joining Day, March 9, 2010, at which time new scouts will join the Troop and parents attend the New Parent Orientation. For more information, contact Jeff Dimock at 770-582-1517 or jeffd@alumni.wfu.edu.

Troop 317 Semi-Annual Court of Honor

Dear Troop 317 Family:
We've recently been made aware of a unique way that Scouts can give back to the Troop, or other service organizations that they serve (Flood Student Missions, etc.)
If your Scouts (13 years old and older) register at www.mygivingpoint.org, and associate themselves with Troop 317 (and/or any other service-oriented organization), they can track their service hours and earn points. For every 500 points they earn (via service hours, photos, blog posts, inviting friends, etc.), they can request a micro-grant ($100 - $250) to be given to their service organization.
This is an excellent way for the Scouts themselves to see the positive impact on an organization from the gifts of their time and talent.
